Here are the top stories in Lakeview today:

1. Chicago and Cook County are now enforcing proof of compulsory vaccination at indoor stores. As of yesterday, patrons will be over five years old required to provide valid COVID-19 vaccine evidence when entering restaurants, entertainment venues, and gyms. (ABC)

2. Illinois set a record for that Friday. set up highest number of reported COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic: 31,461. More than 20,800 cases have been reported yesterday. (ABC)

3. The The Chicago Teachers Union may vote to move to distance learning today in the city’s public schools amid record-breaking virus surge. Chicago Public Schools returned to face-to-face teaching yesterday despite widespread problems with the district’s testing program. (Block club)

4. Four men robbed a store in the 3100 block of North Clark on Sunday night. According to the Chicago police, they destroyed the till and fled south on Clark with stolen cash. Nobody is in custody. (CBS)

5. Jake Harris and Justin Luna from Lakeview were those first couple in Cook County to marry in 2022. Their Zoom wedding took place Monday morning after they won a lottery that was the county’s first wedding of the year, run by Cook County Clerk Karen Yarbrough. (Patch)

  • In case you missed it: one woman was beaten and robbed by a group of eight perpetrators on December 29th in 3200 block of North Sheffield. Another woman was Attacked 30 minutes later at the CTA Red Line stop on Belmont. (ABC)
  • Children between the ages of 12 and 15 could have access to COVID-19 booster vaccinations later that week after the FDA approved the Pfizer booster for the age group. (Patch)
  • Secretary of State Jesse White announced this All Illinois driver facilities will be closed to personal service until January 17th due to the COVID-19 surge. (ABC)
  • Former pizzeria with a view of the lake Kitchen 17 gets an “upgrade” at its new location in Avondale. (VegetablesOut)
