Ellie Turnbull is looking forward to “remarrying” her husband in October – but this time with many guests
F.or Ellie Turnbull of Rillington, North Yorkshire, and her husband Matthew, it’s the third time lucky – Lockdown forced the postponement of one wedding ceremony and meant a small attendance at a second – as they want to celebrate in style.
Ellie, 27, is expecting her second child in June, who will join the family with her three-year-old daughter Lola. She and Matthew, 28, have been together for eight years and immediately started saving after their engagement three years ago.

“We’ve known each other since we were eleven and went to the same schools,” says Ellie. “As soon as we were engaged, we booked the location. We know weddings are expensive and we wanted to save enough to have everything we wanted … the day we dreamed of. “
The couple was scheduled to get married at the Hackness Grange Hotel in May 2020, but had to cancel due to lockdown restrictions.
The ceremony was rearranged for October 2020, but restrictions remained as guests were limited to 15. Instead of postponing it again, just the ceremony was performed. “Many of our families were not allowed to come. It was difficult to decide who should be there. “
The disappointment has now turned to joy over Ellie and Matthew’s big day, including another ceremony scheduled for October in the same location. You want to invite 100 day guests, and 60 more come to an evening party. “This time it will be the whole shebang! I have six bridesmaids – four of my best friends, my sister and my cousin – and three flower girls, my daughter and two nieces, and Matthew will have his best man there. It will now be the most exciting of all days. “
