Fife Shopping Center Hochzeitfayre wants the couple to attend the show and tie the knot

Mercat Shopping Center in Kirkcaldy will host its first major wedding reception this fall, with stalls and activities across the mall.

And the woman behind the event would also like to offer a wedding ceremony to a well-deserved local couple who were hit particularly hard during the pandemic and otherwise would never have had the opportunity to tie the knot.

Lisa Ferguson, owner of LJ Events by lj in Kinghorn, has been a wedding and event decorator for three years.

And she could offer a couple a unique wedding.

She said, “I thought we had everything we need in one place to host a deserving couple who would like to get married but don’t have the resources to host a free ceremony.

“Amy King’s bride is offering the wedding dress, while Jennifer of Kirk Wynd Highland House is offering the kilt rental. Silver Threads’ Cally Forbes has agreed to take on the celebrations at the ceremony, JCM Beauty Studio owner Joanne Morton has offered to do the bridal makeup, Piper Dean Saunders Piper will lead the bride to the altar and I’ll cover the decoration. “

The happy couple is due to be featured on their Facebook business page – and nominees should provide the reasons their chosen couple should win.

The wedding celebration is scheduled for two days in October at the Mercat Shopping Center in Kirkcaldy.

The event promises to bring spectacle to the center as the new owners continue to usher in the changes.

The Wedding & Events Fantastia event is free and will take place on October 22nd and 23rd over two days and will present over 40 providers from all areas of the wedding and event industry.

Lisa said there was still room for an additional 10 suppliers while ensuring the event continues to comply with all health and safety and Covid guidelines.

She said: “I was contacted by Alasdair Irving, the manager of Mercat, who found me on Google after he had the idea of a wedding reception at the mall.

“I met him and before I knew it, I presented a wedding fairy who will be walking around the premises.

“I also knew from my own experience how hard this particular industry was hit by Covid, so my thinking process was – let’s put on a massive fayre, help as many companies in the industry as possible while putting Kirkcaldy High Street back on the map . “

She continued, “There will be many stalls selling everything from favors, cakes, vintage wedding cars and venues to bridal wear, decorations, photographers and entertainment.”

Piper Dean Saunders will perform at the Mercat entrance and there will also be performances by singer Fiona MacKenzie and the band The Dirty Martinis.

Lisa’s daughter Jordyn Ferguson from DYN Photography will be taking photos while Craigencalt Farm’s R&R Farm Cafe, Kinghorn, serves food from a grill.

The winning pair will be determined at random on September 30th.

The wedding will take place on Saturday, October 23rd at 1 p.m. in the Mercat.
