The Dudley couple hitchhiked to a bride after the wedding car broke down on the way to church

A Dudley couple saved a bride on her big day after being forced to hitchhike when their wedding car broke down.

Shenice Beirne of Gloucester said she was 20 minutes late on the way to church to marry her partner Sean Beirne when her wedding car broke down.

The prospective bride borrowed the chauffeur’s phone and tried unsuccessfully to book a cab, so she stood on the street and raised her thumb, GloucestershireLive reports.

Shenice stood with her sister Siobahn Ellis for 15 minutes in their “big white dress” until the Dudley couple drove up and asked if they were okay.

Shenice Beirne posted on Facebook and said, “For those of you who don’t know… well, the most unimaginable thing happened to me on Saturday my wedding day. My beautiful wedding car broke down on the way to church.

“Already 20 minutes late and 25 minutes from church, the car decided to break down. After I borrowed the chauffeur’s phone and rang a couple of cabs that were extremely unhelpful, what should I do?

“Yeah, I’m getting on a lane and hitchhiking !!

This lovely couple on their way to Gloucester Quays for shopping stopped to save the day?

“My sister and I stood in the street in my big white dress and waved cars down. We had a guy stop in a van who was so nice but didn’t have room for us so we kept waving cars down.

“After about 15 minutes … yes, 15 full minutes of cars and cars driving past someone who was obviously on their way to their wedding, haha, someone finally stopped to see if we were okay, and.. offered us to go to church.

“They came from near Dudley to look around Gloucester Quays. They were my guardian angels.

“I honestly can’t THANK you enough for stopping and taking the time of your afternoon to take us to church. I’m so grateful !!

“You are incredible!!

“I didn’t take their names, so please share them and let’s hope this post finds them.”

After Shenice shared her story on Facebook, she was able to track down the couple who helped her get to church and thank them again.
