bathurst 1000 news, sports,

WHILE Bathurst 1000 fans will have to wait until November for this year’s edition of the 161-lap epic, there will be another long-distance Supercars battle on the slopes of Mount Panorama beforehand to whet their appetite. It will be a virtual battle when the Supercars Eseries return in 2021. First conducted last year to keep drivers and fans busy during the COVID-19 lockdown, Supercars has decided to run another series as racing is back from the pandemic. The famous 6.213 kilometer long Bathurst circuit will host the penultimate event of the six rounds of Eseries. At the Bathurst race on September 22nd, Supercars drivers and professional players will join forces in a virtual endurance race, and that’s not the only change from the 2020 series. In a new hybrid format for the competition, two championships within the Series carried out. The All Stars will consist of main game Supercars and Dunlop Super2 drivers, with a Pro Series with elite players representing Supercars teams. As in the previous year, wildcard entries are taken into account. After two second places and a top 10 as a wildcard at the Eseries last year, Brodie Kostecki from Erebus Motorsport will be the focus of the All-Stars races. “The level of competition is definitely much higher among the professional players than among the supercar drivers, but I think the competition among the supercar drivers will be tougher this year,” said Kostecki. “I hope I can keep my All-Stars results from last time. Of course I wasn’t full-time last year so it will be great to race consistently.” The Eseries take place on the iRacing platform and run weekly from August 25th to September 29th.
