(WXYZ) – When a wedding reception in Farmington Hills went dark, an unexpected party guest saved the day: a Ford F-150.
The newlyweds Vetrivel Chandrasekaran and Rachna Nanda Kumar were enjoying a garden party with their guests on August 11th when a power cut went out, the lights, music and all the fun.

“Everyone was having a great time and then everything went dark and the music stopped. And that was total crap, ”said wedding guest Harish Thiruvengadam of Royal Oak.
So Harish and his wife Swetha Shailendra turned to their chariot, the new 2021 Ford F-150 with the PowerBoost engine and a 7.2 kW generator, for support.

“We walked across the street, I grabbed the truck, cleared a few cars, backed up into the driveway, ran some extension cords, and we plugged it in,” Harish said.
A video from the event shows the plug being inserted and the lights going on: “F-150, baby! Ford saves the day, ”you hear in the background.
Harish said some of the guests didn’t notice the truck had power back on and when they found out what had happened they asked questions, shocked about how quiet the generator actually was.
“It was a fun experience showing people what’s going on and how great the truck is,” he said.
Ford CEO Jim Farley tweeted the video and said, “I love seeing the F-150 save the day.”
There was a power outage during this couple’s wedding last weekend. Thankfully, her friends – two @Ford employees – used their F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid with Pro Power Onboard to bring the party back to life! I love seeing the F-150 save the day 🛻⚡️🎶💙 pic.twitter.com/CXcFJz9Q44

For Harish and Swetha, both Ford Motor Company employees, it was a moment they won’t soon forget.
“We always talk to our friends about Ford products and just seeing them experience it was a whole different level,” said Swetha.
When asked if they plan to bring the F-150 to the next backyard wedding, they definitely said. Swetha joked that they might just be invited because of the F-150.
