Supercars Delays First Gen3 Camaro Test

Tomorrow the category was to drive the new generation GM racer for the first time at the Queensland Raceway together with the Triple Eight homologation team.

Significantly, that would have meant that both Gen3 cars would have turned laps after the Mustang’s debut last Wednesday.

But the Camaro closed-door test has now been postponed, with the plan now to drive the car ahead of its public unveiling in Bathurst next week.

“After the successful Mustang test last week, the Gen3 steering committee agreed that there are some alternative factors we wanted to focus on in the Camaro test that require time to prepare,” said a Supercars spokesman.

“As a result, the Camaro shakedown is scheduled for next week before being transported to Mount Panorama for the official unveiling of both Gen3 supercars at the Repco Bathurst 1000.”

Broc Feeney was supposed to drive the Camaro, but his Super2 commitments in Sydney will mean T8 will have to find an alternate driver for the car.

Ford homologation department Dick Johnson Racing fielded enduro rider Alex Davison for the Mustang shakedown last week.
