the South Aegean Islands became some of the world’s leading wedding planners during the 7th Congress of Destination Wedding Planner (DWP) 2021, that happened on Rhodes earlier in November.
The DWP Congress was held after a two-year absence due to the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic and offered international wedding designers the opportunity to celebrate the reopening of the market as well as to continue networking and forging new partnerships.

In front of 350 participants from 40 countries, Governor of the South Aegean George Hatzimarkos referred to the virtues of the southern Aegean Sea and Rhodes as wedding destinations.
“The destination has a lot to offer luxury weddings and honeymoon travel planners for 2022. It’s all here in the region … an endless list of possibilities from professional wedding planners and local DMC professionals to luxury hotels, yachts, helicopters and luxury cars, restaurants, clothing and photographers, “he said.

Another very important factor, according to Hatzimarkos, is the stable weather with long, mild seasons of 250 plus days of sunshine.
In addition, Rhodes offers easy connection with most countries via direct international flights at least from March to November, while being a safe travel destination that develops and implements sanitary protocols that facilitate the visit of millions of guests.
Hatzimarkos also referred to the Greek waterway network, which is currently being built, and which will include 118 ports in the southern Aegean with many connection options.

The DWP Congress 2021 comprised over 30 hours of network activities and more than 5,000 meetings.
Attendees had the opportunity to connect with top wedding planners, including Kevin Leewho has designed weddings and events for politicians and celebrities such as Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise and Kim Kardashian; Ali Bakhtiar |, Wedding planner for Middle Eastern royal families; Vandana, one of the best wedding planners in India; and Alain Hadife, a leading professional in the Lebanese wedding industry.
The South Aegean region welcomed the congress participants to Rhodes with a theater and dance performance by the Terpsichore Folklore Association of Kalythies Rhodes.

The DWP took place in Mitsis Hotels’ luxury five-star Alila Resort & Spa.
It was organized in collaboration with the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO), the South Aegean Region and the Municipality of Rhodes.
