Happiness: Nearly a month before the wedding season, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India began raising public awareness of the cruel practice of using painful, barbed bits at weddings to control horses at weddings, and urges couples to forego letting the animals suffer during their special day. PETA has set up billboards in Lucknow, Chandigarh, Delhi, Jaipur and Mumbai. Recently, actor and comedian Raju Srivastava starred in a video highlighting the suffering of horses used for weddings and other ceremonies.
Radhika Suryavanshi, PETA India Senior Campaign Coordinator, said: “Spiked bits are instruments of torture that can injure and traumatize horses for life. PETA India asks couples to have a heart for horses and to exclude them from their wedding plans. “
