A young bride who almost lost her leg in a car accident was delighted to find her dream wedding dress with the help of Gok Wan.
Bride-to-be, Emily, was run over by a truck in a freak accident two years ago and had to undergo life-changing surgeries that shed her confidence.
“I had to learn to walk again, and from then on it took me a little over a year to heal. I’m still recovering, ”she told Gok Wan as she shared her story on the latest episode of TLC’s Say Yes to the Dress.

“I’ve gained a lot. My confidence was shaken from the start. I hated myself, I hated the way I looked.”
Emily had originally bought a wedding dress, but as she gained weight from a size 8 to a size 16, she turned to Gok Wan for help finding a new dress.
When she meets the fashion consultant at the Ava Rose Hamilton boutique in Colne of Lancashire, she admits that she mourns her former body shape.
Gok presents Emily the number one dress and immediately brings the positive vibes with her when Emily gets excited.

“I love it,” she smiles, much to Gok’s delight. “Trying on your first dress means a lot.
“I overcome my fears because I’ve really struggled with my confidence. I never thought I’d ever feel this way.
“I literally took a step back and thought, ‘I can’t believe I did this’, I actually did it. I’m so proud of myself!”
But Samantha and Gok want to see Emily shine just as she did in her original dress and think it’s time to try something a bit more classic to build Emily’s confidence.

“I’m trying not to cry,” chuckles Emily. “I love it, I’ve never looked at myself for so long without wanting to put something over the mirror,” she says.
Mama Samantha and sister Charlotte look stunned when they see Emily go downstairs to show them the dress.
“She looks like she’s walking down the altar and having the best day of her life,” says Charlotte.

Even after persuading Emily to try on a third dress, it’s clear she’s made up her mind.
Gok couldn’t wait and asks Emily, “Are you confident enough now to get married with that brand new beautiful, brave, brave body?
“And are you brave enough to say yes to the dress?”
Emily grins from ear to ear and replies, “I’ll say it. Yes to the dress.”
