Coast Guard called on Weston-super-Mare Beach after cars got stuck in the sand

Images surfaced after the Coast Guard received a call about two cars that were stuck in the sand on Weston-super-Mare beach.

The event drew crowds when the Coast Guard rescue team on Friday, Jan.

It comes less than two weeks after the Burnham Coastguard had to rescue a jet ski that ran aground in the mud at Knighstone.

At the time, a rescue team spokesman said, “A (hopefully) valuable lesson was learned tonight! CHECK THE TIDES!

“Together with our flank team, Burnham Coastguard, we were made aware of a jet ski that ran aground in the mud at Knightstone at 7.42pm.”

Tire tracks can be seen in the sand after a car was rescued on Weston Beach by the HM Coastguard Weston-super-Mare team on Friday August 13th.

“Upon arrival, the owner and a couple of his buddies dragged him into the harder gravel area at the back of the island and tied him to their vehicle … which was now stuck!

“One of them got his brand new pick-up truck and luckily they managed to save his buddy.”

Further down in Berrow, the Coast Guard was out yesterday (Saturday, August 14) at 2:23 pm when the Weston team was called to “support Burnham Coastguard flank team with people in the mud”.

On Facebook, the Weston team wrote: “When we mobilized the team and made our way over to them, we were rerouted to provide an HLS (helipad) for the Air Ambulance, which was on the way to an accident, theirs Attention to Weston required Main Street.

“The crew decided that their best landing spot was the parking lot next to the Weston Wheel. We cleared the area and the helicopter landed safely. The paramedics took care of the injured man while we guarded their big green helicopter.

“On their return we had to clear the crowd again and stop the traffic in case any debris from the parking lot got into the air… luckily there were no problems, just a lot of excited children and adults.

“We’d like to thank everyone for their patience and questions. A big thank you also to some of the local businesses that have kept us hydrated.”
