David Reynolds will be “unlikely to race” as supercars await advice

David Reynolds is unlikely to compete in the next round of Supercars as the former Bathurst 1000 winner’s vaccination status is put to the test.

The 36-year-old is waiting for feedback from NSW Health on his vaccination compliance.

The 2017 champion at Mt Panorama is believed to have left Sydney prior to the event in Eastern Creek this weekend.

Reynolds’ team, Kelly Grove Racing, is still working on the details of what is possible for Reynolds for the rest of the year.

“Kelly Grove Racing has the highest standards of compliance and we expect the same from everyone who works with us,” said a team spokesman.

“The Supercars Championship has determined that ‘all participants at Sydney Motorsport Park adhere to COVID protocols’.”

NSW Health released a brief statement on Wednesday.

“NSW Health is advising supercars to ensure that all attendees meet vaccination requirements and that events are COVID-safe,” said a spokesman.

Reynolds is in 14th place in the championship standings this season, having finished eighth, ninth and 14th in three races last weekend.
