Equus Automotive’s Throwback Is A Super Exclusive And Breathtaking Corvette With Superior Performance

You have probably never heard of Equus Automotive and, if that is the case, you are not alone. Many who know the company may be only vaguely aware of its crowd-pleasing Bass 770 luxury muscle car. However, the company has big plans in the coming years and one of the concepts driving them towards their goals is a stunning Corvette Stingray-inspired sports car dubbed the throwback.

The throwback has a lot to offer and goes above the standards of its inspiration. With an extremely powerful engine, timeless distinguishable looks, and a beautiful interior, the throwback is sure to help Equus enter the limelight in the coming years as part of its goal to expand its available lineup alongside some other new offerings.

In making a car that pays homage to something as classic and recognizable as the Corvette Stingray of the 1970s, Equus took a major risk, but they did it justice with updated technology and improved specifications that show up the original, offering a taste of retro nostalgia with a heavy dose of modern expertise.

Let’s take a closer look at the Equus Throwback, a super exclusive and breathtaking Corvette with superior performance!

Design And Specifications Of The Equus Throwback

Equus proved itself more than capable of creating a nostalgic car with modern power and technology with the creation of the Bass 770 which incorporates the designs of both Ford’s Mustang and Dodge’s Challenger models. With the Throwback concept, there is a single easily identifiable inspiration in the form of the Corvette, however, different model years have been clearly incorporated through design cues.

Although the C7 inspiration is clear in the Throwback, Equus also incorporated some of their own design touches on the car. The car features two fog lights mounted in the front center of the vehicle as well as taillights that call to mind a later model C3 Corvette. One of the most noticeable features of the exterior design is the inclusion of three massive exhaust pipes in the center of the rear end.

The interior has a familiar layout that is reminiscent of the C7 but includes updated and more modern materials and color schemes from Equus. Knowing the bespoke history of the company, it is also likely that the car will be available with a choice of colors and materials suited to the owner. Although details on those possibilities are not yet available, the maker has already revealed that they anticipate them to be “virtually endless.”

More than just a recreation of the Corvette, the Throwback is an improvement with better performance and better specifications. The Throwback includes options that take the power up to 1000 horsepower and 822 lb.-ft of torque. It can accelerate from 0-60 MPH in just 2.5 seconds and reach a top speed of over 220 MPH, putting it on par with some of the fastest supercars available on the market today.

Production, Exclusivity, And Pricing Of The Equus Throwback

Taking on the “exclusive customization market of iconic American brands” is Equus’ plan to get more securely on the radar and compete with the likes of such companies as Brabus and Alpina but with cars from the American market. They have noted that they are working towards offering “maximum power, stability, and quality” in their updated iterations.

Equus Automotive assembled the Bass 770 cars near its headquarters in Rochester Hills, Michigan, which is likely where the Throwback will also come to life. Production of the Throwback has already begun, however, the turnaround time from the company is currently cited at around three to four months depending on details and choices of customization.

To ensure exclusivity and collectability, Equus is only making twenty-five built-to-order units in total. To order the car, purchasers can reach out to Equus directly to work with their design team to create an ideal model with all the bespoke colors and materials that the buyer could ask for. The team will also send you a convenient and detailed price list.

Speaking of pricing, the Throwback is available for a starting price of $140,000 according to the Equus site, and that includes all body panels in carbon fiber. With just twenty-five cars up for grabs and specifications that put them into a category generally filled with much pricier options, it is reasonable to expect them to sell out, especially with so many collectors and Corvette devotees out there.

The classic and familiar design of the Throwback is sure to appeal to those who love the sexy looks of a C7 Corvette. The updated technology and increased engine power add an extra incentive to ownership. If you missed the height of Corvette’s reign but love creature comforts of modern technology and materials (or you just love picking your own bespoke details and colors), the Equus Throwback is a breathtaking and exclusive Corvette mimic with superior performance.
