Whether it’s lavish decorations, live Bollywood performances or regal venues, Delhi weddings have always been an example of opulence and grandeur. Every wedding season brings a new trend here, and that trend this season is classic cars. A striking set of classic wheels has become an integral part of Baraat processions. And with thousands of weddings happening in NCR every day, the demand for these classic cars for various wedding ceremonies – like the Baraat, Doli, and the Bride’s Entry – is so great that most car rental companies say that all of their classic car models are fully booked!
Would you like vintage bikes on your wedding? You have to wait two months
“This season, some people booked the classic cars months in advance, others saw the trend pick up, and so we had a lot of last-minute bookings,” says Varun Malhotra from Vintage Cars for Weddings by Varun Malhotra from Kalkaji.
He adds, “These cars are becoming increasingly popular as they add a regal touch to your wedding and are perfect. The demand is so great that we are sold out for almost two months. ”
Atul Aggarwal, owner of a company based in Vivek Vihar, Weddings In Delhi.com, adds: “In the past, a certain section of people could afford to buy vintage cars. Now, however, they have become something of a requirement at every wedding. They leave enough space for the grooms to dance in their baraats and also make for great photo ops during the baraats and the brides’ entry. There are even themes around vintage cars. ”Varun adds that“ most five star hotels don’t allow Baraat Ghodis to be owned, so that’s another reason people prefer vintage cars over buggies (horse-drawn carriages).
“Red, white and gold cars are the most popular”
The most popular are open and long cars in red, white and gold. “The Atlantis White Remake, Ford Model A 1930 white and red, and Chevrolet Master Standard 1934-Golden are some of our most sought-after models,” says Atul. Anil Thadani of Jea Bands adds, “Most of the people who ask about classic cars don’t care as much about the model as they do the color. They prefer red, white and gold as it goes with most wedding themes. “Rajender Chawla of Chawla Bands adds,” People also prefer chauffeurs to wear uniforms that go with the colors of the classic car and the theme of the wedding fits, together with a Pagdi for that royal touch. ”
“People opt for modified cars – at lower rental prices – compared to original models”
While original classic car rentals start at Rs 55,000, modified models are available from Rs 20,000, depending on the model and availability. “On days when the number of weddings is high and we barely have a car or two available, rents are higher than usual. However, many prefer the modified version to the original because you can get it for the same price as any good buggy get, ”says Anil Thadani. Varun Malhotra adds, “Original vintage cars also have limitations, such as the number of people they can hold at the same time, which is a problem when people want to dance and pose in them.”
