GM extends its Triple Eight Supercars deal

GM ANZ will continue to support the former Holden works team in the next two seasons through its range of brands such as ACDelco, GM Trade Parts and GMSV.

The announcement also marks a “further development” of the deal when the T8-developed Chevrolet Camaro debuts in the Gen3 spec in 2023.

“It’s exciting to have GM ANZ on board as we enter this highly anticipated new era of sport,” said T8 CEO Roland Dane.

“Through ACDelco and of course Holden, the company has been an important supplier and sponsor of the team for the past 11 years. Our mechanics appreciate the small advantage that it gives us behind the scenes in our race preparation. “

GM ANZ managing director Marc Ebolo said the association with the T8 and the ZB Holden Commodore is a “visual reminder” that the company is still providing authorized service for the now-defunct Holden brand.

“Holden has been part of the motorsport landscape in Australia and New Zealand for over 70 years – and we are proud to continue that legacy with this announcement,” he said.

“Our relationship with Triple Eight is an unmistakable reminder for Supercars fans that there is ongoing support for Holden Genuine Parts and Maintenance.”

The T8 has been aligned with GM and Holden since moving from Ford Falcons to Holden Commodores prior to the 2010 season.

With a double victory in the first race with Commodores in Abu Dhabi, the team marked the crossing of the Ford / Holden divide.

In 2017, T8 took over the works contract with Holden from Walkinshaw Racing and ran the works program until GM closed the Holden brand in late 2020.

This required T8 and GM to negotiate an early end to the work contract, which was originally supposed to run until the end of this year.

The 2022 season will be the last for the famous Commodore nameplate in top Australian touring car racing before it will be replaced by the Camaro as part of the Gen3 conversion.
