Gordon Murray Automotive (GMA) may develop a second model that is below the T.50 supercar.
The company has filed the name T.33 with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Although the T.33 name is not specifically mentioned, Evo recently reported that GMA is working on a second supercar, codenamed Project Two.
Like the T.50, Project Two will have a V-12 engine, manual transmission, and weight reduction, according to the report. However, it’s reportedly going to ditch the T.50’s floor-effect fan and three-seat layout for a simpler design that could allow for a lower price point.
The new model will be based on a new carbon fiber architecture that gives it different proportions from the T.50 and ensures that the two models don’t look the same, the report says.
GMA T.50 Cosworth V-12 engine
Like the T.50, the T.33 / Project Two will likely have a Cosworth V-12. However, it shouldn’t be as high-revving as the T.50 engine and could also throw the T.50’s 48-volt electrical system overboard.
Production is unlikely to begin until 2023 after production of the T.50 and T.50s Niki Lauda racing cars is completed. Evo estimates that production will be limited to 100 units, just like the T.50 street car (only 25 units of the T.50 Niki Lauda will be built). The price is expected to be somewhere below the T.50’s offer price of approximately $ 3 million.
GMA is currently expanding and creating a division of Gordon Murray Electronics (GME) to develop hybrid and all-electric powertrains. According to Evo, this will lead to the market launch of a fully electric “city SUV” over the course of the decade. However, Murray has said that GMA will continue to build V-12 supercars as long as regulations allow.
