the Chevy C8 Corvette is undeniably one of the most drastic and revolutionary changes the brand has seen. The styling, coupled with the fact that the Corvette is now set up as a lovely mid-engine supercar killer, is something even the Corvette purists from 5 years ago wouldn’t have believed.
The new Z06 C8 offers up even more and savagegeese YouTube channel is here to tell us all about the new features.
A Balancing Act
Designing a Z06 Corvette is no easy task as Chief Tech Engineer at Corvette, Josh Holder tells us. He begins by the basics telling us that most cars have a 50/50 weight distribution and Corvette decided to challenge this. They realized that this may be true for smaller, less powerful cars like a Mazda MX-5. However, with more powerful cars, such as the C8, they found the right fit to be right around the 40/60 weight. He tells us this was the first step in realizing the full potential of the C8 as a mid-engined vehicle.

Our presenters tell us that at a distance the Z06 may look quite similar to the C8 Stingray but don’t let that fool you. The Z06 is 3.6 inches wider than its base model counterpart. It also has a larger front fascia which allows more airflow.
The Z06 also comes with two aero packages to choose from. The Aero-Street configuration greatly improves drag coefficient by using more streamlined fender and quarter panels, low profile spoiler, and front aero covers on the front grille. The Track Aero configuration equips a larger and taller wicker spoiler as well as added ducts for brake cooling.
The Nirvana Of Sports Cars

Our presenters finally get to take the Z06 for a test drive around the Milford test track in Michigan. They tell us that the 670-hp Z06 is an incredible drive. The car exhaust is unlike any other American car that comes to mind. They compare the Corvette to a Porsche 992 GT3, saying the front end feels solid and unless you “plow through a corner, or do something really stupid”, the car will just behave as it should.
They continue on saying that they are not big fans of the base C8 but this is an entirely different animal and deserves all the praise coming its way. This is the Corvette that will give the “beasts from the east” a run for their money.
