The bride-to-be cries when the hotel postpones her wedding for a dance competition

A bride-to-be says she burst into tears when she was told that her wedding had been “rescheduled” so the venue could host a dance competition instead.

Charlotte Meigh said she and her partner Adam Simpson had booked to get married on April 30 next year at the North Stafford Hotel in Stoke.

Their original booking had to be changed due to the coronavirus pandemic and they have already had to spend £ 400 to rearrange their honeymoon once.

Charlotte, 27, of Kidsgrove said she made a £ 500 deposit for the big new day, booked a photographer and wardrobes.

But she said she was then told that the date was no longer available.

Charlotte claims she was told by the staff member she spoke to that the venue is now fully booked for a dance competition – even though she reserved it for the wedding.

Now she wants her bail back. But her biggest worry about the wedding being postponed any further is that her stepfather Gareth, 62, will lose his sight.

She said, “I cried when the hotel called me about the date. They let me down because they told me this was my date and everything is booked out. The service is shocking.

“I have a wedding dress, a photographer, venue dressers, a wedding car, and a honeymoon – but nowhere can I get married.

“All of my suppliers have lost a lot of money this year. If I have to cancel my wedding, they’ll have lost my money too. I like my other suppliers and don’t want to lose them, they have been so helpful.

“I hope no one else gets into the situation we are in and I hope another venue sees this and tells me they are available so I can book elsewhere and give my money to a venue, who deserves it. “

She said she really wanted stepdad Gareth to see the big day.

She added, “He worked for JCB and was sick with his eyes and then couldn’t work there because it was too dangerous to go in.

“If I don’t get a date next year, it won’t be my dream wedding because my stepfather can’t see it. It would mean anything to him to see me walking down the aisle. “

Britannia and the North Stafford Hotel did not respond to requests for comments from StokeonTrentLive.
