The Prattsville Scoop: Gorgeous Mountaintop Wedding | Columnists

PRATTSVILLE – It was an absolutely beautiful wedding to send Joe and Karissa McGunnigle Baker on a wonderful life together. Joe and Karissa made their vows at a mountaintop ceremony at Windhan Manor on September 24th. To kick off the weekend celebration, the rehearsal took place in the Ze Wine Bar on Thursday evening.

Cordelia Schrieber and her mother Jessika did a wonderful job. Joe C. of Brandy Wine provided the food and service. Despite the pouring rain, wonderful and delicious. Friday, the wedding day, was a beautiful sunny day. The ceremony took place at Windham Manor. What a venue! The owners Susan and Barry did a spectacular job there. The bride herself, Karissa, has been decorated and every detail has been observed. The wedding was presided over by Joe’s godfather, Uncle John Zeichen. Uncle Dennis Baker gave a lovely speech. Joe Baker was extremely handsome and the bride was stunning. Guess who the security was? Our own Mindy Sokoll!

Also worth mentioning is the manor’s staff. Very impressive, especially Karen Fox-Carroll. Funny time. All four parents are very happy and Karissa and Joe’s siblings were all at the wedding reception along with Joe’s niece Sophia and Scarlett and Karissa’s niece Luna.

Condolences to Lou Schmidt’s family. It was an honor to know him and to laugh so much with him and Fritzie. Lou was a valued mountaintop community and lived in Hunter as he and his wife Fritzie owned the Traphagen Honey Farm. They were staunch supporters of our veteran programs. One of his most memorable quotes after visiting the VA for Christmas and helping with giving out gifts, he said to Fritzie when he returned home, “Now I know what Christmas is about.” This is yours Pass to heaven Lou. God speed.

Our condolences to John Falke on the death of his wife Donna Becker Falke. She will be missed by her family and friends.

Owned by Chatfield sisters Janet Syska and Judy Chatfield on the west coast. COVID is on the rise again in Oregon and there is a mask requirement outside and in public. Judy plans to have cataract surgery on her right eye sometime this month. Success judy. The sisters had a successful vegetable garden, even tried eggplant and lemon pickles, and are ready for winter dinner. The forest fires are still burning south of it and on some days leave a fine layer of ash on their cars. Alpha dog GiGi is thriving and she goes to Groomindales, I love that name, for a canine spa day.

Happy Birthday to Samantha Baker on October 9th. Happy birthday Brian Young on October 10th. Bill Decker will be wishing a happy birthday on October 11th. In Oregon, Judy Chatfield happy birthday on October 12th. On October 14th we wish the twins Connie Constable and Becky Benson, Fritzie Schmidt and Cathy Martino a happy birthday. Happy Birthday to Lisa Zimmerman and Dorothy Giordano on October 15th.
