Thief steals a woman’s wedding ring at Broomfield Hospital

A woman in her 80s had her marriage and eternity rings stolen from the hospital and replaced with low-quality pewter rings.

The woman was treated in the Notley Ward at Broomfield Hospital, where she was admitted on June 6th.

The discovery was made when the woman’s daughter noticed that the rings on her finger were taped over, which when removed were replaced with inferior rings made of pewter.

The rings were not removed in any treatment.

PC Grimsey, who led the investigation, said, “The rings have been of sentimental value and the family is understandably dismayed that this has happened.

“The rings meant happier times in the lady’s life, but her family is now deprived of these precious memories.

“One is a gold wedding ring and one is a ruby and diamond ring.”

Those who have information about the rings or who they may have been offered for sale should contact the Essex Police Department on 101 and quote the reference 42/112803/21.
