Tickford signs Supercars young gun Kostecki, confirms departure of Le Brocq

News of an expected driver swap between Tickford and Matt Stone Racing came recently, with Kostecki and Le Brocq effectively swapping seats for the 2022 season.

Tickford has now made its part to this equation official, the famous Ford team confirming that it has committed Kostecki to replace Le Brocq.

The 21-year-old will join Tickford for his second full season in the main game and third overall, including his shared seat with Zane Goddard in 2020.

He will compete alongside Cam Waters, James Courtney and Thomas Randle at Tickford.

“So far I’m still pretty fresh on the series,” said Kostecki.

“I haven’t had a full season yet, so I know there’s a big challenge ahead of us, but I want to learn as much as possible from the team and my team-mates.

“Having three teammates around me and some really good drivers, plus all the knowledge and experience of the team at Tickford, I look forward to soaking up all of this and seeing where we can go.

“Knowing how successful the team has always been, I know that I will have all the tools to be competitive. I would really like to get into the top 10 in those first few laps and then try to move on from there.

“I’m sure it will take a lot of work, but I’m really looking forward to the opportunity and can’t wait to get involved.”

Tim Edwards, CEO of Tickford added, “Jake is understandably very excited and very determined to make the most of this opportunity.

“He has improved a lot from year to year and I think he sees the same potential for success as we do, which is very encouraging.

“Our driver line-up for next year is developing very well with a really good mix of youth and experience, which in my opinion will put us in a great position not only for 2022, but also for the years to come.”

Le Brocq, meanwhile, will be leaving after a two-year stint in Campbellfield, which earned its first race win at Sydney Motorsport Park in 2020.

“I would like to thank Tickford for the opportunity to work with you over the past two years,” said Le Brocq.

“We had some successes together and I learned a lot. I’m looking forward to ending the season strong with them and switching to new opportunities in 2022. “

Edwards said the team would miss the likeable Le Brocq.

“Jack has been a real pleasure working with over the years,” said Edwards.

“We’ve had unforgettable successes on the track together and some great times off, so we’ll miss him on the team.

“We have really enjoyed working with Jack over the years and look forward to ending the year strong together before we wish him all the best for the next chapter of his career.”
