A bride-to-be who had her heart set on a dream wedding day at a venue run by a Derbyshire businessman has found that her plans are now in tatters.
Historic Kelham Hall near Newark in Nottinghamshire has ceased trading and as a result all weddings and events have been canceled, including that of Seema Kanani.
Miss Kanani, 29, of Arnold, said the venue, owned by Chesterfield-based businessman Jonathan Pass, was “awful with correspondence” after calling and emailing her several times to call and email about her wedding plans.

Derbyshire Live went live on Monday the 28th.
“I think there was something on the back of my mind because I hadn’t heard from them in three weeks,” said Miss Kanani, although her fiancé Vikesh Gohil, a 28-year-old financial advisor, encouraged her to think positively, reports Nottinghamshire Live.
The couple had booked their big day since August 2018, paying £ 10,000 for the civil ceremony and reception for 300 guests.
The ceremony, which was originally scheduled to take place on May 24, 2020, has been rearranged four times due to Covid restrictions.
It was finally changed to 08/15/2021.
Miss Kanani, a marketing manager, said, “I always knew I wanted this venue even before I was engaged. It’s just beautiful, so beautiful.
“When it took them a week to reply to my email, my fiancé and I thought this was the usual behavior. Then the second week came and I emailed them every day and called them without that someone got in touch with me. In the third week I managed to reach them and they had informed me of the liquidation.
“The moment we found out about it, we jumped on Google. We called a total of 30 venues and I just wanted my date to be available because we’ve now rearranged our wedding four times and have a lot of different suppliers – the one Registrars, decor people, food people, arranging all of this for the same day, it was impossible to get availability at short notice.
“When we called, most of them said there is no way you are looking to 2023 if you want a Saturday or a random Wednesday in December.”
Fortunately, the couple were able to move their venue to Thoresby Park in just over seven weeks.
“We paid the deposit this morning. You were really, really great. Really compassionate and understanding,” added Miss Kanani.
“I feel really blessed. We feel so happy after what we’ve been through. We’ve moved four times, we’ve had three weddings and this is our second venue now.
“It wasn’t until we saw the venue on Sunday that I cried a bit, now I had time to deal with it. I haven’t slept properly in three days. I think now I’ll do it.”
In February, shortly before the lockdown, the couple managed to celebrate a spectacular wedding with 200 friends and family in India at the foot of the Ganges over four days.
In their wedding video, they filmed a message for each other.
Miss Kanani. Said, “My fiancé says to me in the video, ‘I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you and we still have part two to look forward to at Kelham Hall.’ That will now be ours Wedding video for the rest of our lives – if you don’t laugh, you cry.
“Hopefully our losing streak is now over and we can look forward to our wedding in our new location, which was really understanding and helpful in the whole situation. Cross your fingers, open your restrictions and all couples can celebrate their dream wedding, including us.”
Derbyshire Live also tried soliciting Kelham Hall for comment.
