Footballers who swapped supercars for motorbikes

With Orlando Pirates star Fortune Makaringe showing off his bike, we take a look at some footballers who swapped their supercars for motorbikes. Check it out!

What happened?

It is often expected that footballers need to be safe and not indulge in any activities that could injure them off the pitch.

However, there will always be a few mavericks who prefer a more daring approach to football and life in general.

One way of being a bit more daring is opting for a motorbike as opposed to a car that has doors and machinery to protect you. It remains uncertain if Makaringe was driving the bike but assuming he was, he is not the first nor the last player to opt for the fast ride.

You cannot mention daredevil without thinking of Zlatan Ibrahimovic who has a wide array of cars but also loves his Harley Davidson. The maverick splashed out on a custom model when he was at Inter Milan in 2009.

Meanwhile, David Beckham is also a fan of bikes specifically the Triumph label which is the largest UK-owned motorcycle manufacturer. The veteran has been seen on documentaries with his ever impressive Bonneville T100.

Another Manchester United legend, Wayne Rooney had his own custom-made Lauge Jensen that was sold for £35 000 (R692 million). Why so expensive? The ride goes from 0-60mph in four seconds and had a top speed of 155mph.

Other names on the list include former Arsenal frontman Ian Wright and David Batty.

Your thoughts, please?
