BYD delivers the first electric cars to customers in Norway

BYD, together with its local distributor RSA, delivered the first BYD Tang 7-seater SUVs in Norway, which were recently shipped from China.

The company plans to expand its electric car business to Europe, starting with 1,500 Tang SUVs in Norway by the end of this year. At a later date, the Tang will be supplemented by the fully electric BYD Han.

“BYD’s first delivery of passenger cars to Norway signals the start of the company’s ‘European dream’ at a strategically important time as sales of New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) begin to grow in key markets across Europe.”

The Chinese manufacturer has so far sold more than 1 million plug-in electric cars (almost all in China) and stands out from the crowd as one of the vertically integrated companies with its own production of batteries (LFP chemistry) and drive train systems (drive motors and power electronics) ).

The battery-powered Blade Tang starts at NOK 599,900 (€ 59,308 / $ 71,816) and offers up to 400 km (249 miles) WLTP range on an 86.4 kWh battery.

Frank Dunvold, CEO of RSA, said:

“We are very excited about the prospect of supporting BYD and its all-electric strategy in Norway. We have one of the most well established networks in Scandinavia and our reputation for service and customer support is second to none. Our extensive dealer network is our greatest strength – each one is fully geared towards providing the highest level of service support. The BYD brand is a fantastic addition to our portfolio of leading car brands, “he said,” and underscores our position as one of the leading car dealers in Scandinavia. “

Pere Brugal, BYD Europe Passenger Car Director, said:

“The official welcome of the BYD Tang SUV on the Norwegian market and the delivery of the first units to customers is an important step in the European sales strategy. Our goal for this market is to always exceed customer expectations, to show that the BYD Auto brand is ‘customer-oriented’ and to expand into other customer segments. “

Isbrand Ho, Managing Director of BYD Europe, said:

“Where better to start our European dream than Norway – a market that has embraced electric vehicles like no other. Like the Norwegians, BYD believes in a future with reduced CO2 emissions and better air quality for everyone. We aim to bring all-electric, emission-free cars to the European market, “he said,” and of course our customers can rest assured that our cars are state-of-the-art in terms of technology and performance. “
