Plans have been submitted
Plans to build a new “groundbreaking” ultra-fast EV charging station on the A14 in Kettering have been announced.
Real estate and construction consultancy Ingleton Wood and The EV Network (EVN) plan to deliver more than 100 ultra-fast charging stations over the next few years with additional programs to increase the availability of electric vehicle charging before the sale of new gasoline and diesel cars is banned up 2030.
A building application for the first EVN charging location has been submitted for a location in Cransley Park in Kettering.

This is what the EV station could look like
The development is strategically located on the A14 and will include ultra-fast charging for 24 vehicles with solar roofs and battery storage.
In the forecourt there is a café and a rest area for drivers during the charging process, as well as toilets and other facilities.
Ingleton Wood’s Anni Folan-White said, “We are excited to be working with The EV Network on this exciting and futuristic project to revolutionize EV charging across the UK – starting with this fantastic proposal in Northamptonshire.
“We have extensive experience in the design and management of complex infrastructure projects and have worked tirelessly and meticulously in our multidisciplinary teams to turn the original concept into reality.
“We look forward to moving this project forward and achieving our net zero ambitions at such a pivotal moment after the recent sharp warnings from the United Nations Intergovernmental Committee on Climate Change were issued on global climate change.”
All projects will be committed to an ambitious net zero strategy using renewable materials and supply chains during construction. Each site will use renewable electricity from the National Grid in addition to the roof-mounted solar panels and energy storage systems.
With the new ultra-fast technology, a 15-minute visit with 300 kW chargers can charge a typical vehicle from a small amount of around 10 to 20 percent to around 80 percent.
The charging stations for electric vehicles range from a simple charging station with 12 ultra-fast charging points to a larger forecourt similar to the Kettering site with 24 ultra-fast charging stations.
