This is the Porsche Mission R, an electric car concept that gives an outlook on future racing cars from Porsche. Could parts from this car find their way into future production cars? Read on to find out all the details.

- Electric racing car concept
- Two electric motors with 1,088 hp
- 0-60 mph in 2.5 seconds
- all wheel drive
- 300 km / h + top speed
- 80kWh battery and 900V + on-board network
- Technology could find its way into the 911 Hybrid
Porsche not only builds street sports cars, but also racing cars that are sold directly to racing teams. Currently, these cars are largely based on the famous 911, but this new Mission R concept shows what a future all-new electric Porsche racing car might look like.
This isn’t just a flash-in-the-pan concept – Porsche has said elements of the Mission R will find their way into production models, which could include the upcoming 911 hybrid.
Porsche Mission R-Design
The new Porsche Mission R combines elements of the new 911 with proportions similar to the mid-engined Cayman and Boxster sports cars.
It’s a racing car, so it’s covered in aerodynamic wings, splinters, and vents, many of which look like they were stolen from the Porsche 919 endurance racing car.
While this car won’t actually go into production, the chances are that some features like the movable aero blinds in the front bumper, the flattened quad headlights, and the full-width taillight bar could show up on future production vehicles.
The Mission R is mostly made of carbon fiber (as shown in the bare interior above), but Porsche has developed new technology to build racing-specific splinters, side skirts, and diffuser parts out of natural fibers. These techniques could potentially be used to build parts for street cars in the future.
Porsche Mission R engines and performance
The Porsche Mission R is powered by two electric motors that give it all-wheel drive. The front axle engine develops 435 hp and the rear engine develops 653 hp. Together they generate 680 hp in normal race mode and 1,088 hp in full “qualifying” mode.

When the latter is activated, this low-lying racer can shoot from 0 to 100 mph in 2.5 seconds and reach a top speed of nearly 190 mph.
Porsche Mission R batteries and range
The Mission R comes with an 80 kWh battery, which is not designed to complete as many laps as possible between charges – rather, it is designed to achieve lightning-fast lap times over a period of 30 minutes. As a result, Porsche has not given an official range figure, but has confirmed that it uses new oil cooling technology to ensure it does not overheat during tough use.
Charging the battery from 5% to 80% takes just 15 minutes thanks to a new 900-volt electrical system that is compatible with 340 kW chargers.
Porsche Mission R price and release date
The Porsche Mission R will not go into series production as a racing car or a cycling car, but elements of its 1,088 hp engines and the high-tech 900 V battery could possibly be used in future Porsche products such as an even faster Taycan Turbo S or a 911 hybrid .
