Supercars driver as part of the vaccination test

If the driver is found to have entered NSW without adequate vaccination or exemption, the driver may be forced out of the state and not be able to compete in the races that weekend.

Autosport has decided not to name the driver due to the ongoing official investigation.

Sources have indicated that the driver entered NSW based on an exception believed to be valid, but authorities have yet to be formally persuaded.

An investigation began late last week but was postponed until the first race weekend was out of the way at SMP.

A decision on whether the driver can stay in NSW is expected in the coming days.

Supercars is scheduled for its second of four consecutive SMP rounds this weekend, with the affected team may need to find a replacement.

That is, if the team is allowed to continue and is not involved in the saga as “close contacts” of any kind.

The same concerns can also be felt in other parts of the paddock, as there has inevitably been a mix of staff.

NSW was only recently opened to double vaxxed people following a lengthy lockdown due to a Delta eruption in Harbor City.

Local health regulations require a double vaccination for large venues such as Sydney Motorsport Park.

SMP chief Glenn Matthews recently announced that he had received hate mail from anti-Vaxxers after the venue released details of his inevitable mandate.

NSW was expected to open on Jan.

However, the freedoms for unvaccinated people are now set to be postponed to December 15, which would put the driver out of action for the remainder of the season.
