A wedding car owner hangs up his chauffeur hat

George Riddell wants to sell his successful wedding car business.

George Riddell, 69, of Top Class, Inverness has decided it is time to call it a day – but wants someone out of town to consider taking over the business.

Mr Riddell said he has attended thousands of events since taking over the wedding car, executive chauffeur, and sightseeing tour business in 2006 and wants someone to enjoy their job as much as they have over the years.

He said: “Unfortunately, I have to give up for my health.

“The demand for the cars is great, but I find it harder and harder to keep going.

“I switched from finance to cars because it was completely different and has been a lot of fun over the years. But I just ran out of energy to do the job.

“I really want to sell it to someone locally because there are so many people who want to book the cars for weddings or special events that it would be a really nice deal for them to do.

“I’m not selling the whole business because I want to make it affordable for anyone who can take it over. It could be a unique opportunity for someone.”

Mr. Riddell is selling three classic-style cars with bookings for the next year. He sells an Imperial Viscount, a Beaufort bridal car, and an Asquith mascot wedding trainer.

He added, “I should have retired at 60 and it just didn’t happen. I think when you start a conversation with someone about renting the cars for their special day, you want to be there to see it through.

“I would hate to let anyone down.

“Now I’m 69 years old and my health is taking a toll and I need to find someone to take over the business. I can manage the chauffeur service and sightseeing tours, but my main concern is to find someone to take it with me.” the weddings.

“I already have 30-40 inquiries for next year, as well as people who have changed their wedding dates due to the pandemic.

“I was ill and am being treated for a serious health problem and am now desperate to find a new owner.”
