Jordan said the wedding party drove from The Liner Hotel on Lord Nelson Street in the city center to St. George’s Hall in three classic vehicles rented by the Liverpool company Silver Lady Wedding Cars.

Queen Square, Liverpool city center scene where a Rolls Royce wedding car crashed.

She said, “It jumped and jerked away very quickly. The driver of our car said he wasn’t too happy with the lift, he said it was like the acceleration got stuck.

“We were taken to the venue and there was no sign of the other car. It was only from Lord Nelson Street, so it was strange.”

“Although my children and mother were not seriously injured, it was a terrible experience; we are all in shock.

“We had to think about the fact that we could have lost our children and our mother.”

The owner of the Silver Lady, who has run the family business for 13 years, believes the accelerator pedal could be trapped by a carpet in the footwell.

The businessman who did not want to be named drove Mrs. Barney and her father while his son drove the car that had an accident.

He told the Echo that the vehicle was serviced two weeks ago and was fully insured and TÜV approved.

He said, “My son is appalled by what happened. We’re still waiting to find out what happened, but I’m convinced the carpet is stuck.

“The police told me that my son’s reactions saved his life. He managed to avoid pedestrians and cars and get them into a bus lane where he knew there would be little traffic.

“We feel terrible, I didn’t eat or sleep this weekend. If I had driven the car, I wouldn’t have had his reactions. We’re just glad that everyone is fine.”

Merseyside police told the Echo that they are not currently conducting a criminal investigation into the crash.

Jordan said Archie and James Jr. have now been released from the hospital where they were being treated for bruises and shock.

Fortunately, the couple didn’t want to go on their honeymoon until October.
