Carrie Johnson has rented three “bait” dresses to provide additional secrecy at her weekend wedding to the prime minister, it was reported.
Along with the white dress former Carrie Symonds wore for the ceremony, she rented three more outfits from a popular ecofashion company, My Wardrobe HQ, without saying she would wear one to marry Boris Johnson.
The dress she was wearing and the three curly-haired dresses were delivered to Downing Street a few days before the wedding, The Times reports.
The couple will have a bigger celebration in 2022, at a time when coronavirus restrictions have likely been eased (Yui Mok / PA).
It is believed that the delivery of a single white dress alerted people to the possibility of an upcoming wedding, while ordering four mixed colors at once could have got the curious out of the way.
“We didn’t know what it was for,” Sacha Newall, who co-founded My Wardrobe HQ in 2018, told the newspaper.
“We were only asked to deliver a few items. Then we saw what happened this weekend. It was all a little surprise. “
Mr Johnson is expected back at work today after the newlyweds reportedly enjoyed a two-day seaside break after Saturday’s ceremony.
