Maulana Qari Sufiyan is said to have asked the families to stop the music as it was time for ‘Azaan’, but they did not respect his wishes, News18 reported.

“I saw the grooms dancing to music on the roof of their vehicles. They were supposed to marry two sisters in the same place. When they didn’t stop, I informed the families that I would not celebrate the marriages,” he told reporters.

It was reported that the wedding procession came from Jagatpur in Delhi.

After Sufiyan’s brief departure, the families had to look for another clergyman and eventually found one who agreed to celebrate the weddings. They quickly finished the ceremonies and left.

Meanwhile, a panchayat was held the following day to discuss the matter, and some of the village elders made their feelings known when they told the congregation that the clergyman did something wrong by refusing to celebrate the marriages .

However, a group of clergy said that loud music and dancing were against the principles of Islam and that people should learn to behave with restraint.
