Imran (Charlie de Melo) and Toyah (Georgia Taylor)’s wedding on Coronation Street is set to be a will they/won’t they affair, as the troubled twosome head towards the event with a lot of mixed feelings and a background of turbulence, betrayal and lies.
Will they even make it as far as the wedding? It’s looking a bit uncertain when Toyah gets into the wedding car and gets a nasty shock when Abi (Sally Carman) jumps into the driver’s seat and speeds away with her.
Charlie de Melo told Metro.co.uk that Imran is genuinely scared of what Abi might do. ‘He is terrified. He has no idea what Abi plans to do with Toyah, he knows that when she is desperate she behaves in an irrational way and he is genuinely fearful for Toyah’s safety.’
At the same time, he knows that Abi has found out that he’s employed someone to dig any dirt on her that might prove she’s an unfit mother for baby Alfie. ‘He knows that Toyah does have a deep rooted moral code and also is worried about Abi so there is always the chance that Abi could get to her,’ Charlie explains. ‘He also knows that other people have been against the wedding so there is every chance that this could be the thing that makes Toyah take a long hard look at the situation and change her mind.’

Charlie reveals that the wedding does go ahead and Imran is ‘beyond relieved,’ but there’s more drama to come at the bistro afterwards. ‘He sees Abi. She had expected Toyah to cancel the wedding and Imran just sees red and tells her that she is an unfit mother and that everyone knows it.’
As Imran goes through with his plan to frame Abi as an active drug user and unfit mother, Charlie warns that, ‘This could be the moment that Imran crosses a line and if Toyah were ever to know then it might be the end for them. ‘
Probably best we don’t hold our breath for a happily-ever-after following this particular wedding, then.
