Courtney signs multi-year Tickford Supercars deal

As expected, the 2010 serial champion will continue with the famous Ford roster for 2022 and beyond.

He first joined the team in mid-2020, replacing Will Davison, who lost his support due to the pandemic.

At the time, Courtney was on the sidelines after deviating from an ambitious Team Sydney deal after a single round.

Since then he has been a regular top 10 finisher with Tickford, his best result for the team a second in Darwin last year, while he is currently ninth in the 2021 overall standings with five penultimate rounds.

“It’s great to close this deal [Tickford CEO] Tim [Edwards] and the team, and I’m very excited to be staying with the boys and girls at Tickford, “said Courtney.

“We have really good team dynamics and have had some strong results on the track since I joined the team a year and a half ago.

“No doubt we want to do better when we race again later this month, but I really enjoy working with the team and the group of drivers at Tickford and it’s a really nice feeling to be into the rest of the year go and know my future. ” taken care of. “

Edwards added that Courtney will be a valuable addition to the team during the transition to the new Gen3 rules later next year.

“James has been a great addition to the team since he came on board and we are excited to be back on a multi-year contract with him,” said Edwards.

“Since joining our program, he’s been a great resource for our engineers and a great sounding board for his teammates. He fits into the whole team very well and has done some great races for us, so we’re more than happy to keep him with us.

“Additionally, we expect his feedback to be especially valuable as we move onto and develop the Gen3 Ford Mustang, which I’m sure we’re both pretty excited about.

“We look forward to seeing JC’s continued contributions to the team for the remainder of this season and we look forward to seeing what we can achieve together in the future.”

Courtney is the second of four Tickford riders officially confirmed for the 2022 season after it was announced in June that Thomas Randle will join another expanded line-up.
