KUALA LUMPUR, Oct. 21 — A married couple in India were not deterred by the flooding at their wedding when they carried a giant saucepan to their wedding location in the southern state of Kerala.

The couple borrowed the pot from a temple and roped two men to shove them into the makeshift boat, and pictures of them in the boat have gone viral on social media, AFP reported.

“It has become a wedding that we never imagined,” the bride was quoted as saying after the wedding.

While their wedding location was also partially flooded, the two were determined to tie the knot in a small ceremony.

“Should have booked a boat instead of a car,” a man can be heard in the background of a video.

Local media reported that the couple worked in the healthcare sector.

Pictures showed cars and buses that were inundated by the floods after heavy rains in Kerala.

At least 27 people were killed in floods and landslides caused by heavy rainfall across the state.

Rescuers searched for survivors on Monday as the Army, Navy and Air Force supported relief and rescue operations.

The state government said it had evacuated thousands of people and set up more than 100 relief camps.

In 2018, almost 500 people were killed in floods across Kerala.
