Forest raids Monson’s house in search of ivory; Customs inspect the import of luxury cars

Kochi: The Forestry Department and Customs carried out separate inspections here in Kaloor on Tuesday at the house of Monson Mavunkal, who is charged with antiquity fraud.

The Forest Service’s inspection came after an ivory-colored item was discovered in the museum in his home. Customs was looking for details on luxury cars and antiques.

Customs prevention officers wanted to find out if there was any illegality in importing luxury cars from Monson.

Officials from the Kodanad Range Forestry Department inspected his house to find ivory that was kept in the museum.

Something similar to ivory was discovered in the widespread video clips of Monson’s antiques, which led to the present investigation. However, according to the preliminary report, it was not found to be ivory. However, the Forest Range Officer said another review of the item would be conducted again.

The department would also try to find out if he is in possession of any parts of wildlife or forest products that are prohibited by law.

Monson had a collection of fake antiques such as Lord Ganapatis “Thaliyoala”, Shri Krishnas Venna Kudam “, The staff of Moses, Judas’ silver pieces, the seamless robe of Jesus, stoneware with which Jesus performed the miracle of turning water into wine in wedding Kana and Tunjath Ezhuthachan’s “Thaliyola”.
