A groom, still wearing his tuxedo, was arrested on his wedding night after shooting a man he suspected was having an affair with his new wife.

Devin Jose Jones, 30, was sitting in a car on Bonnet Carre Spillway with his bride Zenada Williams and her girlfriend after the newlyweds took their vows when traffic stalled at around 10:45 p.m. on Saturday night due to an accident on a New Orleans Highway, the Daily Mail reported.

A verbal argument broke out in the car during which Jones accused the boyfriend of being romantically involved with his new wife.

According to investigators, the drunk Jones pulled a gun and the unidentified friend whizzed out of the vehicle.

Witnesses told police they saw an armed man in a tuxedo who, according to L’Observateur, was chasing another man between cars on the interstate about 10 miles west of New Orleans.

The enraged Jones unleashed a hail of bullets and hit the bride’s friend in the leg. Another bullet pierced the glass of a nearby car and hit the driver in the hand.

The frightened bride ran to an ambulance responding to the highway accident and told paramedics that her new husband was trying to kill her.

Williams, who according to witnesses was still wearing her wedding dress, barricaded herself in the ambulance while Jones tried to break into the vehicle, police said.

Deputies from the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office arrived and reportedly found Jones shaking and hitting the ambulance to reach Williams before arresting him.

Jones has been charged on two counts of attempted second degree murder, illicit use of weapons or dangerous instruments, heavy second degree battery, and serious damage to criminal property.

The two shooting victims were flown to the University Medical Center in New Orleans. They were listed in stable condition.
