Honda minivan humiliates supercar in drag race

In a prime example of a David and Goliath fight on the racetrack, a Honda Odyssey minivan drove away with great bragging rights by outperforming or nearly matching some very skilled and super expensive rivals in a number of drag races. In a video posted on Youtube last year, the minivan can be seen challenging the bad guys on wheels and turning out to be a knockout champion.

Obviously, the 1995 Honda Odyssey is far from its production form and essentially has a Honda Prelude H22 engine combined with extremely powerful turbochargers. Overall, it has an output of around 1,000 hp. And although details of the mechanical improvements are not known, this Honda sets the track on fire and is almost at the pace of a super-fast, super-fast, and super-expensive McLaren 720S.

It is not commonplace for a supercar to find its fit in the form of a bespoke minivan being converted for speed. But this particular Honda Odyssey is not really unique as there have been instances in the past where this particular model has been tuned for power and performance. Such a modified unit was tuned by Bisimoto and has a V6 engine with two turbochargers for a peak output of 1,092 hp.

So before venturing into a rather unsightly family driver on wheels for a sprint spin, it’s important to remember that one shouldn’t judge a car by its cover, but judge a car when you see what’s underneath is his hood.
