Horrified residents woke up to carnage on Sunday morning after a blue Vauxhall car, alleged to have been speeding at 50mph, crashed into a number of parked vehicles. A total of five cars were damaged on Stanley Street in the early hours of this morning.
Residents say the damage is believed to be in the region of £15,000. Witnesses claim to have seen a blue Vauxhall car, with five people inside it, speeding down the residential street, before crashing into numerous cars.
John Peacock, a resident, was one of the people whose cars were severely damaged by the collision. He said he was woken up to a loud bang, before leaving his home to see the wreckage left behind.

He said: “A couple of these cars belong to people who are self-employed, myself included. It’s sad and upsetting.
“It was a very high speed impact. It hit the first vehicle before shunting down to my car. Luckily it didn’t hit any other vehicles on the other side of the road.

The wheel of the Vauxhall came off after hitting the third car, but the car skidded down a further 50m before coming to a halt. The car owners say they have been left to call their own insurance companies on Monday morning.
Another witness said: “They came at very high speed down Stanley street straight across the junction of Wellington street. There were five people in the car and I’m not sure if the police were following them.
“Arrests were made by police who recovered the Vauxhall at 1.50am.”
A third witness said they saw five men attempting to leave the Vauxhall after the crash. Four men were seen dragging one man who appeared to be injured.
Police have recovered the vehicle for forensic evidence.
Humberside Police have been approached for comment.
