A thrifty bride pinching pennies for her wedding day has revealed her most important savings tips – but not everyone is impressed.

Future bride Sian Taylor shared her wisdom on TikTok and vowed not to spend a fortune on her big day.

Sian not only swapped the wedding cake for Krispy Kreme donuts, but also rejected the idea of a fancy wedding car and a “pointless” guest book.

She said, “For the US, we feel like it is expensive and irrelevant in our day.”

Sian added that they were a waste of money and said, “I know who is coming to our wedding. I invited them.”

Sian saved hundreds of pounds on her wedding, bought the rings on Etsy, and cut costs elsewhere as well

Clever Sian also saved money on her ring that she bought on Etsy, and she is also on the hunt for a used veil.

One of the bride’s top tips was to hold the ceremony on a weekday – which is significantly cheaper than getting married on the weekend.

While Sian has won a lot of fans by sharing her frugal tips, not all have been so kind to the budget bride.

She claims to have been the victim of hideous trolls who ruined her approach to a frugal wedding anniversary – and even received death threats for her advice on cutting costs.

Fortunately, Sian has managed to shake off the hatred, arguing wedding guests should like to attend the big day to celebrate the bridal couple instead of being there for freebies.

In a TikTok video, Sian said: “To all of the Karens who blew up my TikTok overnight because I don’t want a guest book and are hosting a midweek wedding for OUR wedding …

“This is OUR wedding, not yours. I never said these were bad ideas, just personally we don’t do it for ours to save money on other things.”

She added: “Our wedding is not for our guests either, but for us as a couple to celebrate our love. We don’t have to do anything to please our guests.”

By texting and saving the date card more to her wedding guests, Sian estimates she will save £ 200 – which she plans to use on her honeymoon instead.

She also believes she saved hundreds of wedding rings – snatched from Etsy – and made her own bouquet out of fake flowers.

One of her biggest cost-saving exercises is scrapping the wedding cake and opting for Krispy Kreme Donuts for guests instead.

Sian argues that a three-tier wedding cake in her area costs around £ 400 without decoration. Instead, she bought a £ 30 cake and boxes of Krispy Kremes.

“I don’t think I’ve ever had a wedding cake at a wedding,” she said, adding, “The cake is only there to be cut!”
