Melrose couple pulls wedding to hospital after bride’s father suffers heart attack – CBS Boston

BEVERLY (CBS) – Affected by severe chest pains and unable to leave the hospital shortly before his daughter’s wedding, it seemed like a dad was missing out on the special day. Thanks to a makeshift ceremony at Beverly Hospital, he was able to lead her down the aisle.

“He calls again and says, ‘I won’t make it to your wedding. I need open heart surgery, ”said Melrose bride Alesha Strycharz.

After a groom, the other irreplaceable man is at a wedding – the father of the bride.

“I thought maybe it was scared, but when he said his left arm hurt, I knew immediately it was a heart attack,” said Strycharz.

Edward Strycharz would miss his daughter’s day. So the bride and groom took the wedding to him.

“We called our official and said, can you meet us at Beverly Hospital for 4am?” said the couple.

Vendors like photographer Scarlet Roots and videographer Beabout Exposure jumped into their cars and followed the hospital. It takes a pretty cool bride not to fully resolve this type of emergency.

“That’s one of the things I love most about Alesha, how strong she is. Only she could go through something like that and pull it off like her, ”said the groom Bruce Baisch.

But Alesha had a really good teacher in life.

“I wanted to show that he always showed me how strong I grew up. I’ve always admired that about him – his sense of humor and his friendliness, ”she said.

The couple went to their venue and their guests. The bride’s father was operated on successfully. The newlyweds’ hearts are full, and his – are fixed.

“Not enough words to thank the team at Beverly Hospital for what they really did,” said the bride.
