An “astonished” groom with an incurable disease said he was “overwhelmed” by the generosity of the locals who moved mountains to give him and his fiancée their dream wedding.

After Marc Vine, 34, and his fiancée Emily Butcher, 26, got over cancer after surgery in 2019, they promised to get married as soon as possible and started planning a future date.

However, after a severe bout of back pain about two months ago, Marc was told that he had an extremely rare type of cancer in the form of a neuroendocrine tumor. Unfortunately, his prognosis is final.

Upon receiving the diagnosis, the couple decided to abandon their wedding plans due to insufficient funds.

However, friends of the couple didn’t get any of this and picked up the phone and decided to give it a try.

Now some generous corporations in the district have pledged to do everything possible to make this possible.

With a “massive” discount on the wedding location and a small army of vendors promising their services for free or almost free, the wedding now continues with the July 14th ceremony and a August 23rd reception.

From photography to a children’s bouncy castle by day, everything is provided by local businesses.

“We wanted to discard our plans due to our financial situation,” said Marc. “Which was made worse by the fact that I was unemployed and my partner had to cut hours to look after me.”

He added, “Having previously beat cancer, we made the decision to get married. It means so much to us to be able to tie the knot. ‘

Emily said she was “so grateful” to all of her friends and family for making all of this possible.

“It has always been our dream to get married,” she explained. “The prospect of it not happening was heartbreaking, but now we’re getting the dream wedding we’ve always wanted.”

Joe Lang, who runs the Humber Barn wedding location, gave Marc a “ridiculously generous” discount, according to Marc.

Joe said he felt a rush of emotion upon hearing the story.

“I was approached by a close friend of Marc,” said Joe. “We knew we had to help. They want the best for people and I think it makes me emotional when I think about everyone getting involved. ‘

Joe stated, “We have jumped the tires keeping an eye on the latest government restrictions. We are not a large group company. At the end of the day we work hard and we want to serve the community. ‘

After the couple struggled with some difficulty getting pregnant, Emily eventually became pregnant with their “little rainbow baby” Theodore Arthur Vine, who will be born on July 16.

Marc and his fiancée Emily would like to express our biggest thanks to the following companies:

Phil Higginson at Coolers

Sally and Charlotte at Moss Bros

Alan at Mane events

Ian at H Samuel

Sophie at Humber Barn

Leah Harrison for the photography

Sammy Lacey for the cake

Adam Hughes for Cars

Josephine Baker for flowers

Emily’s mother Suzanne, who bought her the wedding dress.

… And everyone you “maybe” forgot to mention.
