Opposition leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar questioned the timing of the government’s tightening of COVID-19 restrictions, citing a wedding that she said took place shortly before the announcement.
During the United National Congress (UNC) virtual report on Monday night, Persad-Bissessar showed video footage of cars parked in front of a building and mentioned an upscale wedding that happened just before the lockdown was announced:

On April 19, the government announced tightening of COVID-19 restrictions, including closing beaches and stopping on-site dining, after the number of reported cases of COVID-19 increased.
Public gatherings were reduced from 10 to five people.
All beaches in T&T are closed to the public, including on the islands. However, an exception is made for turtle protectors. Boat tours are allowed on Buccoo Reef, but music cannot be played.
