Schivas Steading takes the main stage at Aberdeen’s premier wedding fair

Aberdeenshire’s newest wedding venue, Schivas Steading is a key attraction at one of Scotland’s largest wedding fairs.

Based on the Schivas estate near Methlick, the refurbishment was completed just last year, with exposed stone walls and a striking glass roof over a huge contemporary glazed curtain wall, offering superb views of Bennachie.

After more than two years of pandemic restrictions on weddings and celebrations, Your Wedding Exhibition welcomes back eager brides and grooms curious about what’s new in the world of weddings.

The venue is one of more than 120 exhibitors coming together over two days at P&J Live to provide inspiration and expert advice for those looking to tie the knot.

From bagpipes to ribbons, buttonholes to balloons, the weekend is becoming a wonderland for wedding ideas.

Representatives from the region’s leading wedding venues show how they bring the big day to life, while live-streaming experts can help make far-flung friends a part of the big day.

Couples might be thinking of a traditional fairytale wedding in a historic castle, or planning a more relaxed and unusual event complete with petting zoos and pinatas.

There are quirky cars and creative camera work to be discovered alongside delicious cakes and beautiful bouquets of flowers.

The romance and glamor of the occasion are captured in the twice daily fashion shows, expertly choreographed to showcase ideas and inspiration for this stylish ensemble.

Featuring natural nude palettes and two-piece wedding dresses expected to be trends of 2022, the 45-minute shows feature outfits for the entire wedding party.

Before Covid, there were over 26,000 weddings a year in Scotland, with around 3,500 in the North East alone.

With many couples choosing to postpone their big day in recent years, it is estimated that over 6,000 are waiting to get married.

Your Wedding Exhibition Director Simon Morgan said: “We are delighted that Your Wedding Exhibition is back as its return has been so eagerly awaited.

“So many couples have put their dream day on hold in recent years that there is a pent-up demand that I have never seen in the 25 years that we have organized this event.

“This is also good news for the local economy as it is yet another high profile event on the P&J Live calendar.

“Although the wedding industry has struggled to function given the challenging restrictions, I am delighted to see several companies at the show that have established themselves during the lockdown.

“Our own activities have been taken online during the pandemic, but there really is no substitute for being able to see, hear and experience the amazing services on offer in the real world.

“We showcase the best the region has to offer, allowing couples to discover specialist providers they might never find otherwise, and best of all it’s all in one place.

“Here they can speak face-to-face with the largest collection of quality wedding suppliers and ensure those dreams come true.”

Claire-Lena Miller-Davies, Exhibition Sales Manager at P&J Live said: “The wedding industry has taken quite a hit in the last 18 months so it’s fantastic to see new and rearranged weddings getting the green light.

“With such a wide range of exhibitors and daily fashion shows, Your Wedding Exhibition is always a popular choice and we are very much looking forward to welcoming the show back to P&J Live.”

Their wedding show will be held at P&J Live on March 5th and 6th.
