St. Augustine wedding venues | 10 unique places to tie the knot

St. Augustine has long been a popular destination for weddings. While local churches and most hotels host these big events, the city also has plenty of unique venues for a couple’s special day. Here are just a few.

The Peña – Peck house

The historic Peña – Peck House on St. George Street has hosted weddings, bridal showers and receptions in its garden for years. The house, built around 1750, is operated by the St. Augustine Women’s Exchange and offers several wedding packages and a professional kitchen for events.

Blitzermuseum

The Lightner Museum in downtown St. Augustine offers a variety of wedding venues. Located in the former Hotel Alcazar, built by Henry Flagler and opened in 1888, the museum hosts weddings in the building’s courtyard, its mezzanine, lobby, new outdoor terrace, and a large space that was once the hotel’s swimming pool. It was once the largest indoor swimming pool in the world.

The St. Augustine lighthouse

The St. Augustine Lighthouse is another unique wedding venue. Located near the Salt Run on Anastasia Island, the museum hosts events in the front yard of the lighthouse keeper’s house. The black and white painted lighthouse, completed in 1874, is a landmark of the city. Wedding packages include entry to the lighthouse and museum, where guests can climb the 219 steps to the top of the 50-meter-tall building.

The oldest house

The St. Augustine Historical Society’s Oldest House Museum offers two wedding venues. The gardens of the Oldest House on Charlotte Street are available for weddings and receptions. The Gonzalez-Alvarez site, built in the early 18th century and a national historic landmark, has been a popular wedding venue for years. The Llambias House, on St. Francis Street and built around 1763, is also available.

A treasure trove in the plaza

One Treasury on the Plaza is a special full-service wedding venue in the lobby of a former bank from the 1920s. Located on Cathedral Place, next to Plaza de la Constitución, it is one of the largest venues in the city. The bar is in the original bank vault from 1927.

Fountain of youth

The Magnolia Room of the Ponce de Leon Archaeological Park’s Fountain of Youth is a 2,500-square-foot indoor venue on the grounds of the 15-acre park overlooking the Matanzas River and St. Augustine Inlet. The fountain of youth is believed to be the likely landing site of the Spanish explorer Ponce de Leon in 1513 and the site of the first Spanish settlement in St. Augustine.

Museum Villa Zorayda

The Villa Zorayda Museum on King Street in St. Augustine is one of the city’s most historic buildings. Built in 1883 out of poured concrete and crushed clamshell, the museum was a family home, casino, and whisper bar, and is now available for rent for weddings. Modeled after the Alhambra Palace in Granada, Spain, the museum’s Lion Courtyard is full of antiques and original works of art.

Tringali barn

South of St. Augustine on US 1, Tringali Barn is a rural wedding venue with a 7,000 square meter interior that can accommodate up to 300 people. Opened in 2014, the barn sits on 54 acres next to a 13 acre lake.

St. Augustine’s Classic Car Museum

The Classic Car Museum of St. Augustine on US 1, south of St. Augustine, is a 30,000-square-foot facility with hundreds of vintage cars that can be rented as a wedding location. It shows corvettes from the 1950s to modern racing cars and is a popular meeting place for car enthusiasts.

Washington Oaks Gardens State Park

Just south of St. Augustine on the Palm Coast, Washington Oaks Gardens State Park hosts weddings on the beach and in its rose gardens. Events are limited to 25 people and can only take place between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Reservation and approval required.
