Every aspect of the wedding had a vintage twist including Mrs Edwards’ dress which was a special find.
“We like to go to charity shops,” said Mrs. Edwards. “We were looking around one day and I saw this bundle of white cloth on the other side of the store.
“I rushed over there and saw that it was a wedding dress.

“Steve was with me so I couldn’t let him see what I found.
“I had no idea if it would suit me, but I could tell by the style that it was an authentic 1940s dress.
“When I got to the counter I had it in a bundle and said please don’t take it out because I don’t want him to see it.
“They billed me £ 1. When I took it home, I found it was my size and in remarkably good condition.
“You don’t have to spend thousands to have a beautiful wedding.”
The couple embrace the vintage scene and dress in 40s, sometimes 50s most days.
“We both love music and we both dance,” said Mrs. Edwards.
“We like to go to events in the 1940s and drive steam locomotives. We also like the way of life back then. The camaraderie of the war years and fashion.”
She continued, “It was kind of natural for us to continue this lifestyle until we got married.”

An avid seamstress, Mrs. Edwards was able to modify her dress to fit perfectly and hand-embroidered her names on the back of her vintage veil.
Like many people, Ms. Edwards and her husband had to cancel two of their wedding dates – in October and April – because of the coronavirus.
But when it finally got going, a number of close friends from the vintage scene helped make their big day extra special with 1930s cars, handmade velvet flowers and accessories.

“We are so happy that we had all of these lovely people and were able to hold the wedding,” said Ms. Edwards.
The couple will have a reception next month to make the most of the eased restrictions on dancing.
