Jamie Whincup denied history to his team-mate Shane van Gisbergen on Sunday afternoon when the Red Bull Ampol Racing duo scored a one-two victory in the second sprint.
Shane van Gisbergen has already written his name in the history books with a sizzling start to the 2021 Supercars season.
Saturday’s win brought six straight wins to start the season – only Allan Moffat (1977) and Mark Skaife (1994) got off to such a good season.
But the Kiwi couldn’t get the best result when Whincup stormed home by more than a second.
Will Davison finished third, more than six seconds ahead, while Cameron Waters finished fourth after starting from pole position.
There used to be chaos on the fourth round of the first round when Fabien Coulthard and Jack Smith were forced to retire.

WATER RIBS POLE STUNNER
Waters qualified second for the race on Saturday, but dropped to sixth place, but did even better with pole in both races on Sunday.
“Our one-lap speed is obviously pretty damn good,” said Waters. “We are missing it in the racing car at the moment.
“We tried a few things overnight and the car feels pretty good on one lap. We’ll see what we do this afternoon. “
It was his first pole position since the season opening race at Bathurst.
In the meantime, van Gisbergen only managed sixth place for race 7 and seventh place for race 8.
His team-mate Jamie Whincup finished second in race seven, while Anton de Pasquale took third place for Shell V-Power Racing ahead of Erebus youngster Will Brown.
In race 8, Walkinshaw Andretti United’s Chaz Mostert took second place again ahead of De Pasquale.

SVG CHASE STORY
Given that SVG also won the Bathurst 1000 at the end of the season last October, it is now holding seven races in a row in both campaigns. Craig Lowndes won eight in 1996 – the only man ahead of the veteran Kiwi.
“I don’t know. I don’t think about this stuff,” he told the media after the race on Saturday.
“I’m just trying to drive as fast as possible and in the moment [I’m] I don’t think about records or anything like that … just for the moment. “
Had he won the second sprint, he would have been just one win from Peter Brock’s record (48).
Qualifying starts at 10:45 a.m. AEST, before race 7 at 1:35 p.m. and race 8 at 4:25 p.m.
Both races will include 44 laps of the Symmons Plains circuit.
