The Supercars Esseries will return in 2021 with a second category for Supercars and Super2 drivers.
This year’s iteration will consist of a six-round esserie that begins September 15th and runs through November 24th. The events take place every 14 days on the iRacing platform.
This season there will be two separate competition classes. The first is an ‘All Stars Championship’ with Supercars and Super2 drivers.
The second will be the “Pro Series” filled with professional players representing Supercars teams. The top prize for the Pro Series is more than $ 20,000.
All the action will be broadcast live on Fox Sports 506, Kayo, 7Plus and streamed on Supercars’ Twitch, Facebook and YouTube channels.
This information was confirmed in a series reveal video released on Friday morning.
The supercars Eseries and Esports have recently gained popularity with the cancellation and change of other sporting events. In the past, drivers from all categories of racing have participated, from F1 to NASCAR.
Supercars General Manager of Commercial Jamie Black took pride in the impact of the Supercars Eseries over the past year and looked forward to improving it in the upcoming release.
“The 2020 season has been recognized as the number one Australian sports series with the highest reach and coverage,” said Black.
Dayne Warren won the 2020 championship for Mobil 1 Middy’s Racing in a Holden Commodore ZB ahead of Josh Rogers of Walkinshaw Andretti United in a close finish.
Rogers was the standout for most of the season, taking a total of eight race wins. However, a final lap overrun at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit and Interlagos courses spawned a disgruntled champion in Warren.
The two went home with $ 10,000 and $ 7,500 each.
Triple Eight driver and current Supercars front runner Shane van Gisbergen also had some big screen hits, winning race 12 at Charlotte Motor Speedway in the last series.
Erebus drivers Brodie Kostecki and Zane Goddard of Matt Stone Racing represented the other Supercars talents in the 2020 edition.
