Supercars, TCR could be partners of the Bathurst Festival

According to reports, Bathurst could host a six-day racing festival that includes both Supercars and TCR Australia.

Supercars are believed to be considering the option of rescheduling the Bathurst 1000 to a new date in December as Australia continues to grapple with COVID-19 outbreaks, which has already resulted in the calendar being revised and changed twice .

The plan is for Supercars’ biggest event to be postponed from the scheduled date in early November to the date apart from the scheduled Gold Coast finale, which instead will likely be canceled for a second straight season.

Should Supercars hold its event on the opening weekend in December, it would be just a week after the date for Bathurst International, organized by the Australian Racing Group – which also includes the season finale for TCR Australia.

According to Speedcafe, talks are currently taking place about merging the two events into a six-day racing festival that includes action from both series and would culminate with the Bathurst 1000 itself.

An official announcement is expected in due course.
