Young teacher Amanda Kinsella died in the shocking accident after falling off a bus outside Donegal at around 3:45 p.m. on Friday afternoon
She died at the age of 27
A 27-year-old teacher was killed after being thrown from a bus and hit by a car on the way to an after-wedding party.
The tragic Amanda Kinsella “enlightened everyone’s life” and will “live in the hearts of her family every day,” said her funeral mass.
The young teacher died in the shocking accident after falling off a bus outside Donegal at around 3:45 p.m. on Friday afternoon.
She was home from work in the Middle East attending a friend’s wedding when the heartbreaking accident struck, the Irish Mirror reports.
It is understood that Amanda, who was born in Bennekerry, Co Carlow, got up to pick something up on a bus carrying wedding guests when she crashed into the door of the vehicle and was hit by a car.
She was flown to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin but died on Friday night despite efforts to rescue her from medics.
The tragedy happened last Friday
During her funeral mass on Thursday, symbols representing her life were brought to the altar.
Mourners at St Mary’s Church in Bennekerry were told: “The accident really shocked us and left us lost. Our prayer and love for you have grown for you in the last few days. She was a girl of action and activity. “
Brendan, her friend, brought a picture of the two of them. Participants were told that he was “the love of their lives”.
A bouquet of red roses adorned her oak coffin, which was carried to church by relatives and friends.
Her brother David said to the mourners, “Amanda has brightened the lives of everyone and the community. I never thought I’d be here and say goodbye to her.
Mourning mourners paid their tribute
“She was a great bluffer when it came to getting jobs, especially summer jobs in the US. She feared nothing as long as she was with family and friends.
“It was never easy to say goodbye to her at the airport when she returned to Oman and Bahrain. It was certainly the crème de la crème.
“Last Friday was such a tragedy – it’s hard to believe – but she lived life. You will live in our hearts every day. We love you Amanda. Rest in peace.”
The church was filled with sunflowers and yellow roses as nearly 1,300 mourners from the Middle East, Donegal, Carlow and other parts of the country watched via live webcam due to Covid – which limited attendance.

The congregation was told: “God never wants us to die, and He doesn’t want death to be the end. Amanda wholeheartedly believed in the message of living life. She loved here. She loved her home, she may not love David and Aisling all the time – but 90% of the time. She loved school, planning, and traveling. Then she met Brendan, she loved him and she was proud to call him her friend. “
They heard: “The accident left a huge void in our lives. It would have been one of her great wishes in her life that the wedding she attended would not be ruined by what happened on the (couple) day. She would never want the man who drove the bus nor the driver of the car to get hurt or (feel guilty). She would want her to enjoy life to the fullest.
