The Audi RS6 Avant 2021 is a super car for the whole family

When you hear that a car can go from 0 to 100 km / h in less than 4 seconds, think of a sports car or a supercar. When you think of a practical family vehicle, you usually think of a compact SUV. When you imagine putting your foot on the ground on the open road and letting yourself be pulled into the horizon by a large sonorous V8 engine, a thoroughbred American muscle car, perhaps a black Shelby Mustang, comes to mind. Usually when we tell you you could have all of these sensations in a 5-door, 4,464-pound family car, the usual response is ridicule followed by a jaw picking off the floor.

The vehicle is of course the Audi RS6 Avant. A super car that can even scare Godzilla. So let’s tell you more about the Audi RS6 Avant, which has finally arrived on US soil as a station wagon.

The heart of an animal in the Audi RS6 Avant

To get the obvious numbers out of the way, the RS6 Avant is equipped with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that develops 600 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. It is equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission and of course Quattro all-wheel drive. This means that the Audi RS6 Avant accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in a breathtaking 3.6 seconds in 2021. Only the electronic limiter of 155 mph is running out of breath. Because of the bulletproof gearbox and Quattro, some RS6 Avants came off the assembly line faster than the Nissan GT-R. The RS6 doesn’t even fear Godzilla!

So you’d think it’s weird, but not very economical. We say no to these naysayers. In fact, Audi has thought of everything, because the 2021 RS6 Avant is actually a mild hybrid.

It uses a belt-driven 48V starter motor that controls auto-stop-start while also assisting the V8 engine and relieving its load when cruising. In fact, the RS6 Avant’s accelerator pedal vibrates occasionally to get the driver to lift the accelerator pedal to coat and save fuel when necessary. The engine is also able to shut off half of its cylinders if possible. That gives a highway economy figure of up to 22 mpg. It still may not sound great or practical. But that’s still pretty cool for a supercar.

RS6 Avant: The family man

As a supercar and sports car of comparable performance, the RS6 Avant has beaten them all on family matters. You don’t just have the performance you’ll ever need. The RS6 Avant can comfortably accommodate up to five people and carries all of your luggage on a road trip or takes groceries with you for a year. The RS6 Avant offers 30 cubic meters of cargo space. With the rear seats folded, it can be expanded to 59.3 cubic meters. It’s basically an Audi R8 with a huge backpack!

The car design not only allows for massive booty that offers space for everyone. The rest of the cabin is designed to the highest German / Audi standards. As always with Audis, the cabin is designed in a minimalist yet functional way. It is also equipped with all the latest generation technologies and functions. There are two digital touchscreens between the front seats. With the latest Audi MMI OS, the infotainment system is right at the top and in the middle. The following manages all in-vehicle systems such as the air conditioning and vehicle dynamics control. In addition, a third digital screen is placed in front of the driver as an instrument cluster. This virtual cockpit provides the driver with all the information they need.

As a sporty RS model, a hefty dose of Alcantara was used for the upholstery. The rest of the interior is made up of some of the finest materials used for the various cladding and inserts. To remind you how special the vehicle is, RS emblems are scattered all over the cabin.

Audi RS6 Avant: the meanest car

2021 Audi RS6 Avant super car

The RS6 Avant is a sleeping car. It looks like a car your grandma would drive. Just to realize your grandma is Ken Block and smokes whatever you put in your tuned Honda. The RS6 looks unremarkable overall, but if you stare at it long enough, you’ll find the huge grille eating your face, letting it out of the rumbling exhaust, and leaving you on the road with skid marks from its massive tires.

The US never received the RS6 in its full glory until recently. While the first generation was sold in the US market in the early 2000s, it was never the station wagon. The station wagon is the real charm of the RS6, which is a supercar that your grandmother will love to drive. The RS6 Avant democratizes performance like never before. Sure, it’ll cost a shipload of money, but there’s nothing else out there other than the RS6 Avant that will terrorize your family in 3.6 seconds while they’re carrying their luggage.
